Miar Elaskandrany, MD
Junior Resident Chair | Engagement Council

Pronouns: she/her/hers

Miar’s upbringing in an immigrant household deeply shaped her perspective as she navigated life in a country vastly different from the one her parents came from and the culture they instilled in her. Growing up in New York City, she was surrounded by people from a wide range of backgrounds and identities. Listening to their stories while reconciling her own layered identity inspired her to engage in work that celebrates and uplifts diversity. Her passion lies in creating spaces where everyone feels welcomed, seen, and represented. Miar firmly believes that a person’s identity is far too rich and nuanced to be reduced to a few simple labels. Instead, every facet of who someone is deserves to be honored and embraced. She is committed to advocating for and supporting marginalized communities, and hopes to promote an environment in which compassion, humanity, and humility are at the forefront of patient care and collegiality.  In her free time, Miar can be found bopping to all genres of music, reading, creating art, and exploring the Boston food scene.
